Mathematics in Our Modern Day Life
The Islam were for most part the founders of our modern day mathematics. They mostly invented algebra. Muslim mathematicians founded mathematics in the Middle Ages in the modern day Middle East and India.
They founded Algebra as well. The term Algebra means balancing and substituting numbers. There are three theories about the origins of the Arabic algebra. The first one said it has a Hindu influence. The second one said it is influenced by the Mesopotamian or Persian-Syriac. The third and final one said it has a Greek influence. Today many scholars think it was a combination of all three influences.
Islamic mathematicians also founded our modern day number system; it is called the Hindu-Arabic number system. They had a very smart structure in the amount a number is worth. For example number 1 has one angle, and it is worth one. If you write number two with straight lines, it has two angles and it is worth two. Number three has three angles if you draw it with straight lines and it is worth three. The smart thing is zero has no angles.
